The IIIrd South Marmara Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Departments Student Symposium
The IIIrd South Marmara Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Departments Student Symposium, organized by the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, Faculty of Health Sciences, Balıkesir University, will be held on Friday, April 18, 2025, at 09:30, at the Balıkesir University Atatürk Congress and Culture Center, Şehit Fethi Sekin Conference Hall. The honorary president of the symposium will be Prof. Dr. Defne Kaya Utlu, and the symposium president will be Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cevher Demirci.
The symposium is organized to share current developments and applications in the field of physical therapy and rehabilitation. Following the opening speeches, the program will consist of four different sessions. The first session will feature presentations on “Pain Neurophysiology for Physical Therapists.” This session will address topics such as environmental sensitivity, central sensitivity, how to explain pain to patients, and pelvic pain.
The second session is titled “Muscle Tone: From Physiology to Rehabilitation” and will provide information on the physiology, assessment, and rehabilitation of muscle tone disorders. The third session will address “Evidence-Based Current Approaches in Cerebral Palsy.” This session will cover orthotic approaches used in cerebral palsy, the concept of family-based rehabilitation, and technological rehabilitation.
The final session is titled “Women of All Ages and Exercise” and will feature presentations on physical therapy and rehabilitation practices for polycystic ovary syndrome, dysmenorrhea, and menopause. The symposium's closing remarks and final statement will take place between 3:45 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. Detailed information and the program can be found below.
